Wacky Surf Contests Redefine the Beach

The famed California beaches are tantalizing attractions filled with pretty girls in swimsuits, beach bonfires, activities, exercise opportunities and cults–specifically surfing culture. Though surfing is big business in California, as a sport it can’t compete for audience exposure, sponsor dollars and athlete salaries like professional baseball, basketball, football or even golf. That doesn’t stop the surfing crowd from putting on a great show that pleases crowds throughout the state.
