Pebble Beach 17 Mile Drive Bird Rock is Awesome Spot

Published on: July 29, 2012

Bird Rock is one of the many attractions with signage to indicate it is picturesque and worth a stop along Pebble Beach’s 17 Mile Drive.  Panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean can be taken in from the cliffs above a sandy beach, or you can step down into the cove which is surrounded by rocks. Get intimate as you stand close to incoming waves that lap the shoreline. Binoculars are recommended for seeing the birds on the rocks.

17-Mile Drive is one of the most scenic drives in the world. The famous coastal landmark runs through Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach, from the dramatic Pacific coastline to the majestic Del Monte Forest. The drive includes a parking lot where you can stop and photograph the Lone Cypress, a famous landmark recognized throughout the world. When you go, beware that you will be charged a fee at the admission gate (just under $10). And do give yourself plenty of time to drive, stop and see all the attractions listed on a map you are given at the gate. Each stop is different from the next and all offer fantastic photo opportunities!

Gate fee: $9.75, subject to change; spend $25 in restaurants inside Pebble Beach and use your gate admission voucher as credit to your bill. Average lunch for 2 costs around $25-75,  pebblebeach.com
