While the world hurls toward a techno-future in which robots fight wars with each other, perform life-saving surgeries, and become household pets or sex objects, what happens to humans? Are they at risk of being snuffed out by these one-day smarter machines that could make decisions whether to flip our “off” switch? Futurists who see danger lurking ahead warn us that inventors, science’s brightest minds and humans with a darker side are in a race to to determine mankind’s fate–with no outcome assured.
Meanwhile, there’s plenty of hope, humanity and beautiful art celebrated in California this weekend, next and throughout the year as people come together in public spaces to share the creative spark.
