Pictured is one of many Southern California cicLAvia Open Streets (car free) events. On March 3, 2019, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., enjoy a 6.5 mile bike ride on Washington Blvd. in Culver City.

It’s hard to imagine that places such as Markleeville in California’s Alps will host its annual Death Ride in just a few months. With over 159″ of snow at nearby Bear Valley Ski Resort and the road between the two spots often closed during winter, Mother Nature will have to turn up the heat to get things ready for the annual cycling event in July. Death Ride course covers both sides of Monitor Pass, both sides of Ebbetts Pass, and Carson Pass. While it’s one of the state’s extreme cycling races, there are many that novice riders can enjoy.
