California Capital Air Show (pictured) this year features the Blue Angels October 5-6, 2019.
The Mars Opportunity rover mission is officially over (there has been no communication with Opportunity since June 2018,) as announced at a NASA press conference at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, on Feb. 13. Humans’ never-ending fascination with flight spanning the Universe and far reaches of space also includes homespun adventures straight overhead.
From vintage planes with vibrant colors to loud, thunderous roars of military jets, air shows have a long, proud history in the Golden State, which is known for its aviation accomplishments. While Blue Angels aircraft stunts at 3,500 to 8,000 feet don’t seem like much compared to the 140 million miles distance to the Red Planet from Planet Earth, they’re every bit as exciting to a child or adult sitting in a grandstand watching.
