Pictured: Temple City Camellia Festival
There’s nothing more beautiful than Spring in California. In only the second week of January the signs of it are already appearing. I went out to pick some limes from my yard and noticed white flower blossoms on the trees, thanks to a couple busy bees buzzing me to get away.
Spring in California means blossoms and flowers galore. Starting this week the state’s camellia societies begin their annual shows and celebrations. For camellia revelers the highlight of the season tends to be Temple City Camellia Festival, complete with a parade featuring the Camellia Royal Court of children honored during a coronation.
That action happens in Southern California, while another rare treat is a stroll through the Camellia Grove at Capitol Park grounds in “Camellia City” (Sacramento).
Some think the prettiest show on Earth occurs in the Central Valley in February and March when the fruit tree blossom. Celebrations include Ripon Almond Blossom Festival with a coronation of the teen queens, a parade, festival and carnival.
Experience a guided tour of Central Valley’s blossoms on Sanger Blossom Bus Tour showcasing the Fresno County Blossom Trail. Be sure to book early!
Blossoms are blooming and there are more coming! Californians look forward to seeing them at cherry blossom festivals, peach blossom festivals, apple blossom festivals and many more on the beautiful horizon.
