Enjoy boating with your pets at a special and unique Hornblower Cruise (hornblower.com) in San Diego. The 18th Annual Pet Day on the Bay (pictured) April 28, 2018 is open to man’s best friend on one special day.

Also in San Diego is a fun, annual boating event on April 15 called Day at the Docks. It’s a day for exploring boating, kayaking, attending free fishing clinics (ideal for kids and their folks,) and it’s designed to expose the public to the joys of one of California’s great natural resources.

BoatUS Foundation, a program promoting boating safety, is offering a class (boatus.org/Huntington) in Huntington Beach April 20-21. Whether you love boating and want to gain confidence at the helm, you’re considering buying or renting a boat and want to learn new skills, or you’re just curious about boating, the On-Water Training program is an easy  way to develop your sea legs!

The foundation also has an incredible life vest lender program with more than 700 locations nationwide — and many of them are in California.

Big Bear Lake (bigbear.com) loves boating and announced The West Launch Ramp is open for motorized and non-motorized vessels. The East Launch Ramp opens May 11, 2018. With 6 marinas, you can get a fishing license, fishing gear & bait, rent a pontoon boat for family fun or take out a fishing boat to explore the fishing coves on Big Bear Lake.

In addition to Long Beach’s exciting Grand Prix April 13-15, The Congressional Cup boating event brings excitement to the shore April 17-22.

Here are a few boat shows and events we’ve discovered and enjoyed in California, but there are oceans of opportunity for you to explore.
