When we featured strawberry festivals recently, one reader questioned the safety of strawberries. Last year when we published a list of fruit festivals, a reader said a specific item wasn’t a fruit. It’s important to ask the questions and try to find accurate answers. California remains the nation’s and a world leader in production of many foods and also leads the way in organic food trends and farming. As a consumer you can help effect change.
Should you eat fruits & vegetables?
Every doctor and nutritionist you talk to says YES! But what if they’re laced with chemicals that could harm your health? The Environmental Working Group released its 2018 list of clean and dirty produce with strawberries ranking #1 most chemically-laden with pesticide residues. Here are highlights of the list.
Should you go to a fruit or vegetable festival?
Every promoter says YES! But what if you have concerns about the food? There are usually many food vendors at these fests and you can ask each of them about their crops. Are they organic? Do they sell organic? Eating food is one element of a fest but there’s so much more.. carnivals, games, bands, entertainment, contests and friends in a fun atmosphere.
