Some people spend their lives trying to unravel the mysteries of the Universe. Not so in Bridgeville, Calif. where the mystery was solved long ago. Aliens are here to stay, and much like sports car racing, they compete in flying their UFOs, says Kate McCay, a “surrogate woodswoman, proxy master gardener, fictional manure slinger, robot housekeeper and fantasized master of her own destiny”. She wants to let visitors know that it’s nearly time for the annual Bridgefest and Flying Saucer Contest. Kate supplied these photos from last year’s event.

“The alien costumes walking around are varied in their complications and color. There was one guy last year that just had a plaster-of-paris human torso glued to his back, or a couple made an extremely wonderful alien costume out of denim jeans,” she said. “To make it easier for some, last year we added a make-your-own-saucer table.” Don’t miss the fun — it’sĀ out-of-this-world!
