California Drought

Californians have been on alert to start saving water and cities such as San Jose began doing so this summer this summer when the spraygrounds weren’t turned on. Farmers have been working with less and have employed extreme conservation methods after hearing the governor tell them about the shortage back in February 2014 at the World Ag Expo in Tulare.  While an effort is underway to determine who’s using the water and how much they are using, San Diego officials told the state that it  needs to get its act together and apply rigorous scientific  methods for measuring consumption. Perhaps that’s why the City of San Diego declined supplying the state with its average consumption per resident data.  To see JUST how meaningless the data can be, the City of Vernon reports thousands of gallons of water per day per resident. The average usage is extreme for one reason– the city has very few residents and contains mostly manufacturing.   In California the average person uses 196 gallons of water per day.
