California 4th of July Claims to Fame

With 32.9 million Americans heading out of town for the 4th of July holiday, we can already tell you where they are going — California beaches are the #1 spot for holiday attendance, and the busiest beach in the nation is Venice Beach. In a busy year around 20 million people visit Venice and many of them come to see ‘The Greatest Outdoor Bodybuilding Show on Earth,’ Mr. & Ms. Muscle Beach on the 4th of July. Prelims at 10 a.m., Finals at 1 p.m. at Muscle Beach.

- SOUTH LAKE TAHOE: The largest alpine lake in North America is home to the biggest synchronized 4th of July fireworks display West of the Mississippi. Lights on the Lake starts at 9:30 p.m. on July 4.
- ANAHEIM: Most expensive fireworks land display on the 4th of July is at Disneyland. The technology used to ignite the fireworks has been gifted to the public to create less-polluting pyrotechnics.
