It’s a busy year and bound to be a great harvest for wine growers throughout the State of California. Anywhere you find grapes, there’s a possibility you’ll find stomping to celebrate the new harvest. Drinking stomped grape-wine isn’t commerically permitted in California and many other places now, but one of Napa County’s great wine-makers remembers making it that way.  Award-wining, 90-year young vintner Michael Grgich, stomped grapes  in Croatia as a child. Thanks to the memories, Grigch Hills Estate in St. Helena invites guests to come & stomp between Labor Day and Halloween. In addition to this “anytime” attraction, grape stomping festivals ring in the new harvest season each summer and fall with special events  that include gourmet dinners, fairs and parties. Here are are few GRAPE STOMPS  that we rounded up for 2013.

If you want to STOMP today, August 24, 2013, head for:

  • ESCONDIDO: Orfila Winery Grape Stomp
  • ST. HELENA: Trinchera Family Estates Harvest Stomp
  • SAN JOSE: Italian Family Festa Grape Stomp
