California Grape Stomps

Annual Grape Stomps in California provide an exciting experience enjoyed by all ages. Several of the grape stomp events have categories for children so they get to feel the soft grapes squish between their feet and get to stomp on the precious grapes to see what it's like to make grape juice or wine. Of course nobody drinks the products made from these events. It is strictly done for enjoyment and entertainment, but you get to understand how wine once was made before mechanization and how the time honored tradition became so important to those who sought this desirable beverage. In California, wine-making spans the entire state and has become an important industry, along with table grapes, to the California economy both for sales, exports and tourism.

TEMECULA: Somerset Winery Grape Stomp September 27, 2025, 1-4 p.m.
Four-person teams compete for prizes, choosing fun names and often sporting creative costumes or matching outfits. The Stomp features real oak barrels, recently harvested grapes, a DJ, wine, sangria, food vendors, and a live band after the event. This is an afternoon filled with good company, great food, fine wine, and competitive GRAPE STOMPING! Four teams of 15 for a fast paced competition. Each team will start with the same amount of grapes and after the 5th and 10th persons in the barrel; each barrel will be equally refilled. Once all 15 members of the team have had 30 action filled seconds in the barrel, they measure how much juice was produced. The team that produces the most juice WINS! Each member of the winning team will get BRAGGING RIGHTS and a prize. It's an afternoon of music, lunch and GRAPE STOMPING! In addition to the competition, live Music with Justin Diaz and a catered lunch are included.
