Many of California’s ski resorts were tasked with sidewalk cleanup on Christmas Day 2015. At Mammoth Lakes there’s a base depth of 60 to 85 inches of snow with the arrival of 14 inches in the past several days. California State Department of Water Resources is heading out to do manual snowpack measurements on Dec. 30 — their electronic readings show snowpack at 112% of average. Sierra snow melt is attributed with supplying approx. 30% of California’s water needs in a normal year.

Mammoth Lakes has a busy roster of festivals & events planned during the snow season. New Year’s Eve in the Village launches with Kids Kickoff to 2016 featuring fireworks & family fun. Call: 800.MAMMOTH for tickets.
