Christmas Day Free in Downtown Disney

If you’re looking for a fun Southern California escape on Christmas Day you can spend time in Downtown Disney without spending a dime. Parking is free for several hours, or receive more time with validation from restaurants and shops.  It’s a great place to soak up the Disneyland holiday ambiance on the cheap! Downtown Disney is situated at the entryway to Disney theme parks.

  • Watch candy-makers stir up some fantastic cupcakes, marshmallow crisps on a stick and caramel candy apples in Disney character shapes!
  • See Disney characters meandering and posing for pictures.
  • At Disneyland Hotel be sure to check out the old black & white photos documenting Disneyland’s past. Also snap a photo at the Gingerbread House.
  • Olaf’s Ice Rink charges a fee but you can watch for free and see the magic as the lights go on around dusk.
  • If you’re looking for places to eat, there are about half a dozen affordable restaurants in Downtown Disney featuring a good variety of dishes — Italian, Creole and Mexican are several.
  • Shopping  is extremely popular on Christmas Day believe it or not. Legoland store, Disney merchandise, artwork, clothing and candy shops are a few of the places you can browse and buy.
  • Downtown Disney often features outdoor entertainment.
  • Buy a big balloon, a set of mouse ears, cotton candy or a caramel apple-shaped like Mickey.
