If you’re dreaming of a White Christmas, you probably won’t find it in Sacramento this holiday season as there’s no snow predicted. But California’s State Capitol is one of the most romantic places to be, offering old fashioned train rides, tree lightings, story telling, ice skating, Nutcracker ballets and holiday parades. Bathed in festive lights that illuminate trees, boutiques, restaurants and the riverfront in a holiday glow, a highlight & annual events that will warm your heart is Old Sacramento Theatre of Lights (shown in photographs,) now in its sixth year. The 20-minute, free show is a symphony of lights, sounds, and visual effects transporting audiences to Sacramento in 1857 when the beloved poem “The Night Before Christmas” was first introduced. Presented from balconies and facades of Old Sacramento at K Street and Front, you’ll see a special appearance by Jack Frost, and the lighting of the 58-foot Christmas tree by St. Nick himself.  The event takes place November 26-31, 2014.
