SANTA CLARITA, CALIF.–Whoopee ti yi yo, git along little dogies… Each year the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio opens its doors unveiling a picture-perfect stage set for Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival.  This entire studio town isn’t real, but it sure feels like it when you stroll down the barren, dirt streets where cowboys on horseback ride past.

The Cowboy Festival includes dozens of cowboy bands, chuck wagon vendors preparing foods cooked over coals you can purchase, tours and ticketed  lectures from the likes of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans’ daughter. The ranch is the former home of Gene Autry and current backdrop for Quentin Tarantino’s film Django Unchained. It’s an exciting place to visit. Go if you can!  There are lectures and tours in the days leading up to the opening of the Ranch on April 26 & 27, 2014. See:  cowboyfestival.org
