Crazy Names, Great Music

- LOS ANGELES, CALIF. — Echo Park Rising: They go by names like Flying Hair, Rat Fist, Tropical Popsicle and The Blank Tapes. Some band names are suggestive, some shouldn’t be said outloud in certain social circles, some are disgusting and others are nuts like — Batwings Catwings, Gooch Palms and Happyness Heater. Keep a straight face when you pronounce the acts, and hold onto your hat at this week’s Echo Park Rising music festival in Los Angeles because there are more than 200 bands performing and best of all, it’s free! If band names offer any indication as to what you’re in for, at this event you’ll get to hear Chew Toys, Cigarette Bums, Survive, Talk in Tongues and Send Medicine.
