The weekend of Oct. 7-9, 2016 is a festive one celebrating many cultures in California.

  • GERMANS: Oktoberfest is on! If you’re German you’ve been drinking beer and dancing the Chicken Dance for several weeks already. The fun continues through the end of October.
  • GREEKS:  Greek Festivals throughout the state have served up fun all summer long. This week is a big one where Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are known to make guest appearances at the L.A. Greek Fest.
  • ITALIANS: San Diego’s Little Italy Festa stirs up the dust with outrageous food, music, dancing and laughing this weekend. San Francisco’s Italian Heritage Columbus Day Parade also takes to the streets this week.
  • HISPANICS: Although Day of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos) takes place in several weeks, this weekend you can celebrate with special events in Whittier, Oxnard and Selma.
  • NATIVE AMERICANS: Pow Wows and Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations take place in San Francisco, San Bernardino, Berkeley and Coarsegold this week.
