How well do you know and love Ben Franklin? Pull out a $100 bill and you may love him a lot more when you see his face on it. Each year the International Printing Museum in Carson, Calif. invites the public to a celebration of Benjamin Franklin, his life and inventions. This year as luck would have it, the Franklin festival happens on Jan. 17, the day Ben was born! With talented actor Phil Soinski portraying this famous American who invented the lightning rod, bifocals, and a whole lot more, guests practically step into the shoes of the brilliant inventor, printer and political leader while listening to “Ben” explain things. The annual “Ben Franklin’s Electric Birthday Celebration” is perfectly staged in a setting Franklin would feel comfortable in–a print shop/museum. The newspaper editor and printer became wealthy publishing Poor Richard’s Almanack, one of several successful ventures allowing Franklin to share his opinions and political views that garnered him the title, The First American. Reservations are recommended for this event.
