Fascinating, Funky Festivals and Fairs

There are festivals dedicated to foods, sports, music, beer and wine. Those are all fine. But what about a festival just for tarantulas? Creepy, but true, this annual event takes place in Coarsegold on the Oct. 24, 2015. The Testicle Festival in Oakdale has ended, as has the Earthquake Festival in Winters, Fog Fest in Pacifica, and the Poison Oak Festival in Columbia. Also gone are the bed races, bathtub races and outhouse races, but the excitement continues in California where you can expect unusual, funky and fascinating fun at festivals still to come. Here are a few:

- COARSEGOLD: Tarantula Festival Oct. 24
- PALM DESERT: Golf Cart Parade Oct. 25
- RIVERSIDE: Archaeology Fair Oct. 17
- TWENTYNINE PALMS: Weed Show Nov. 7-8
