We need healthy fruits & nuts in our diet and are fortunate as Californians to be able to consume foods grown in our state. The farm industry has taken a beating during the drought, including from media outlets as reported by The California Almond Board (almonds.com) recently in a story, “6 Ways Vice News Got It Wrong About Almonds and the California Drought.”

False: Agriculture uses 80 percent of the state’s water.
False: Almond trees are especially water-intensive.
False: Farmers continue to use antiquated production practices.
False: California is a desert that can’t sustainably grow food.
False: Almond farmers’ water use is irresponsible.
False: Almond farms are run by outside investment companies.
