COLFAX, CALIF. — The Colfax Fire and Steel Festival on June 14, 2014 turns up the heat for a weekend of “slightly disturbed” and possibly illuminating experiences. From the wild and crazy art cars (made of fire & steel) to the burn wear, fire dancers and fantastic concerts, this is California’s answer to Burning Man. Maybe it’s a little smaller, but it’s an event for all ages to share in the fun. (Though kids must leave at 8 p.m., grown-ups are invited to party after dark.) At night watch things heat up with adult entertainment in the traditions of Burning Man. Where is Colfax? The city in Placer County is located at the crossroads of Interstate 80 and State Route 174.
