If the remarkable setting isn’t enough of a visual feast, the costumed participants certainly make for a day to remember at Fort Ross State Historic Park’s Fort Ross Festival on July 26, 2014. Located on a hill above the Pacific Ocean in Sonoma County, Fort Ross is surrounded by sandy beaches, panoramic coves, and redwood forests. The thriving Russian-American Company settlement from 1812 to 1841, features restored buildings showcasing unique architecture not often seen in California. The public is invited to celebrate the cultural diversity that makes Fort Ross such a unique place with music, history moments, militia, and crafts, all centered in the fort compound.
