If you’ve never seen or explored beach destination Fort Bragg in Mendocino County, it’s truly a hidden gem where some of the favorite stones are made of glass. It’s interesting to see how the Pacific Ocean has smoothed the rough edges on broken pieces originating from glass bottles and other discarded objects, transforming them into sea glass. Plan a trip to explore Fort Bragg’s beaches — but wait until December 1, 2014 if you want to enjoy the newly constructed 93 acre park and 3.5 miles of beach trails the City of Fort Bragg is working hard to make available to the public on that date. Key improvements include: 4.5 miles of new trails connecting Noyo Bridge with Pudding Creek Trestle and 2 new parking lots with welcome plazas and bathrooms. During construction related closures you can check out Pudding Creek Beach, Hare Creek Beach and MacKerricher State Park.  If you want to admirer and purchase treasures made with sea glass, don’t miss Cayucos Sea Glass Festival in San Luis Obispo County, usually in March.
