If you’re not a Shakespeare fan, you’ll most likely tune out as we cover the summer Shakespeare performance schedules and plays. Shakespeare is partially about the play, but in California, it’s also about the place. Imagine sitting in a redwood forest with the full moon lighting up the stage. Deer wander by as guests delight in stunning settings–the best in the world. Among the venues this summer is Shakespeare by the Sea, a series of oceanfront plays traveling to cities throughout Southern California, and Marin’s spectacular Forest Meadows Amphitheatre, located on the campus of Dominican University of California in San Rafael. The Marin Shakespeare Company (marinshakespeare.org) recently announced that it received a $1 million gift donation from an anonymous donor. Shakespeare companies often struggle and work on low budgets to produce outdoor summer plays.
