It’s not exactly summertime yet, and the few lifeguards at Carlsbad beaches hopefully won’t have to make many rescues this weekend. Carlsbad Beach Fest in June brings lots of fun to a mile of beaches pictured.

This is the first weekend in several weeks to break the cold spell the coast has been under with near record-breaking cold temps. Southern California beaches may reach 70 degrees while Northern California beaches remain in the 60s and 50s. Meanwhile Australians are suffering record highs of 115 degrees F and are baking and roasting at their beaches.

About Carlsbad (North San Diego County) beaches: Carlsbad could easily be named “Surf City” for its surf culture and world class surfers.  A desalination plant was approved and has secured financing to be built along the shores of this beach and Legoland family destination.  With the announcement that Legoland California will open its first hotel earlier than expected in April, you can now book hotel rooms at the theme park hotel decorated with youthful Lego themes. The beach is a few short miles from Legoland and many visitors prefer staying at beach hotels. Carlsbad is a fantastic, family-friendly place to visit both for its kids’ theme park and its beaches. Extremely popular attractions include Carlsbad Factory Outlet and Museum of Making Music.
