Not quite 50 years ago Don Rake and his friends decided to put on a motocross in Mammoth Lakes, California. They built a world-class track 8,000 feet up in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range and since that time, not much has changed. On the challenging road to Mammoth Mountain is a series of staged competitions in which motocross riders can be eliminated or continue on. In 2014 contests were held in San Bernardino, Hesperia, Porterville, Turlock, Sacramento and Anza, California with the final challenge being Mammoth Motocross. The honor and thrill of being in this classic event, the oldest continuous running motocross in the U.S., has included some epic battles over the years. Many racers have made names for themselves on this track. Mammoth Motocross takes place June 20 – 29, 2014.
