Are you lookin’ for country in California? Shine your boots, dust off your Stetson and get ready for Memorial Weekend celebrations geared toward living life large.

  • BISHOP MULE DAYS: May 24-29, 2016 Highlights include a concert featuring Michael Martin Murphy known for his song ‘Wildfire’ about a magical horse.
  • YUCCA VALLEY GRUBSTAKE DAYS: May 27-30 gets its name after the word ‘grubstake’ — supplies or funds furnished a mining prospector on promise of a share in his discoveries. The festival includes a beard contest, carnival and rodeo.
  • COALINGA HORNED TOAD DERBY: May 27-30. Angels Camp Jumping Frog Jubilee last week is a tough act to follow but many actually prefer the personality of the Horned Toad and love this competition! A parade, music, watermelon seed spitting contest and sack races are just the beginning.
  • VACAVILLE FIESTA DAYS May 26-30 features the Jailhouse, Whiskerino, a parade, carnival, concerts and pure home town fun.
