Celebrating mom can be as simple and thoughtful as buying a card, a gift, a meal or just saying, “thanks.” Last year we did a feature on children who were given a ride so they could visit their moms in prison. Mothers come in all shapes, sizes and interests and for those seeking something special here are a few festivals that have “Mother’s Day” written all over them:

  • Stinson Beach Annual Mother’s Day Picnic
  • Calico Ghost Town Mother’s Day Bluegrass Music Festival
  • Chocolate Festivals at San Diego Botanic Garden (Encinitas) and Paradise Chocolate Festival
  • Amador Flower Farm Mother’s Day – picnic under the oaks, free tram ride, 1,000 varieties of daylilies
  • Art Fairs: Sunset Beach Mother’s Day Weekend Art Festival; Mother’s Day Artisan Fair in Suisun City; Studio City  Mother’s Day Festival of Arts and Crafts; Los Banos Mother’s Day in Pacheco Park Arts and Crafts Show
  • Boulder Creek – Big Basin Redwoods State Park The Women of Big Basin Mother’s Day Special Event  May 10, 2015 at 1 pm.  Meet pioneer homemaker Alice Maddock; Josephine McCrackin, the Savior of the Redwoods, and Harriet ‘Petey’ Weaver, the first female Ranger portrayed by Susan Blake during a half-mile, 2-hour guided walk. Wheelchair and stroller accessible. Call: (831) 338-8883
