It takes all kinds of people to make the world go ’round. And it takes all kinds of music, too. This week music lovers can head for places off the beaten path to watch international acts compete for grand title in the Saw Festival Contest. Yep, they play saws! That shindig happens in the redwoods of Felton’s Roaring Camp Railroad. For syncopated beats, the Ragtime Festival this week takes place in the hills of Sutter Creek, an Old West gold rush town. Finally, if you’ve got the hankerin’ for juggin’, you and the youngins should stick around Sutter Creek for a week to see the Jug Band Music Festival August 16. People turn ordinary items into musical instruments and they play them in concerts. For mainstream music, Tres Pinos hosts a Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival this weekend with bands: Naked Bootleggers, Jimmy Chickenpants and Amazing Dr Zarcon’s Breathing Machine.
