A Pair of Pear Festivals in California
What do Moraga and Kelseyville, Calif. have in common? They’re 118 miles apart, several counties distance and a world of difference in many aspects of life. Moraga is part of the San Francisco East Bay, which makes it a popular commuter community (one of the wealthiest in the nation for 10,000 population), while Kelseyville is located in Lake County in the North Coast region–not so close to the big city jobs. What the two towns do share is a love of pears. And they also celebrate the sweet, juicy fruit on the same day–September 29, 2012!
Come one and all to the Pear Festival where you can taste the cream of the crop of fall harvest pears. Bartletts, Boscs, Golden Boscs and Red Sensations are the talk of the town at the free one day events where you can enter contests with your prized pear dishes, listen to the music and dance.
