San Diego OLD HOUSE Fair Free Weekend Event

Published on: June 12, 2012

San Diego’s South Park,  an eclectic, totally cool part of the neighborhood that makes up San Diego (California’s 2nd largest city,) is hosting one of many exciting summer events, the 14th annual Old House Fair. You are invited to tour historic homes and gardens ($20 fee) and enjoy the free street fair with bands playing, people exhibiting things for sale, and experts answering questions about homes all day long. Featured historic homes include the 1937 Art Deco masterpiece (photo above by Robert Pigott)  with streamlined, geometric architecture characteristic of the Deco style. Rooms are set back from each other, allowing corner windows which let in more light and take advantage of breathtaking views to Balboa Park and beyond.

The fantastic Old House Fair held on the four-block 30th Street at Beech Street intersection on Saturday, June 16, 2012, includes 70 booths, exhibitors, vendors and entertainers. Admission is free and open to the public.  Hot San Diego bands, Billy Joe and the Red Roosters, Todo Mundo, and Marcia Forman Band, are performing free concerts. The family-friendly event has food vendors and entertainment for all ages throughout the day, 10 a.m. – 4- p.m.   theoldhousefair.weebly.com
