Scottish Festival – Don’t Let The Skirt Fool You

First off, if you go to a Scottish Festival and you call the man’s attire a skirt, you’re probably going to tick someone off. It’s a kilt.  And just because he (or she) is smiling when they hold that big stick it doesn’t mean that they’re not fiercely competitive and willing to beat the socks off you when it comes to tossing that thing across a field.  The Scottish seem somewhat easy-going, but just test them in athletic challenges and look out! Like the Vikings, the Scots are known for their athletic acumen.

This weekend at the Queen Mary (which was built in Scotland) you’ll see all kinds of plaids, watch Scottish people play games native to their homeland, and discover just how many Scots have invaded California!  Here’s coverage of last year’s Scottish Festival written by a great Scot named MacDonald. And here’s info on this year’s event taking place Feb. 15 & 16, 2014 at the Queen Mary in Long Beach.
