Spring Fruit and Blossom Festivals

People rave about spring cherry blossoms back East but California knows how to celebrate cherry blossoms as well as any region of the U.S. On April 9, 2016 the annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival launches a two-week celebration of Japanese culture and traditions. In Japan Hanami festivals celebrate the beauty of the cherry blossom and for many are a chance to relax and enjoy the view with picnics under the trees. In San Francisco the annual festival features crowning of the Cherry Blossom Queen, Sapporo Beer Garden, dance shows, martial arts demonstrations, crafts such as origami, concerts and a parade on the final weekend of the celebration.
