My family and friends say they haven’t seen rain like we experienced in Orange County this week — for years, actually. The good news is the sun’s predicted to shine once again, a welcomed sight to Californians who rarely see rain.
Fun things on the horizon this week include events about famous people such as Ben Franklin’s Electric Birthday Celebration in Carson, and walks, talks, community service events and parades celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. throughout the state.
Among the more festive celebrations with entertainment, shopping and food in focus, there’s Asian American Expo at Fairplex in Pomona. When it began in 1982, there were only 60 exhibitors and one hall.
The Expo, which is part New Year’s Celebration, part business promotion, part anime & cos play, and completely family oriented, now encompasses 6 large expositions halls (400,000+ exhibition space,) 1,000+ vendors, 8 non-stop performing stages, and 3 separately unique food courts. Local and international attendees from all ethnic backgrounds come to the Expo.
There are many things to do throughout California this week and the weather predictions are for sunshine to break through and make it a great outdoor adventure.
