Pier 39 Sea Lions in San Francisco

Return of the Sea Lions January 17-20, 2020

Location: Beach Street & The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA. Cost: Free. Time: Open at 10 a.m. daily.

San Francisco's Pier 39 is celebrating the return of the Sea Lions with their annual Arrival of the Sea Lions at the 29th Anniversary. Free tours depart daily at 11am, Noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm from the Sea Lion Statue west of the PIER 39 Entrance Plaza.

Sea Lion Center programs every half hour from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The Sea Lion Center, operated and managed by Aquarium of the Bay, is a hub for all things sea lion with interactive displays, educational videos and presentations led by Aquarium of the Bay Naturalists. Touch a sea lion pelt, size yourself up next to a real sea lion skeleton and more.

Free educational walking tours led by naturalists hourly from 12-3pm. All events and activities are weather permitting

Anniversary of the Sea Lions' Arrival

PIER 39 commemorates the the sea lions' arrival to PIER 39. The sea lions' anniversary is always a special event for PIER 39, as these playful mammals entertain and delight both our guests and the PIER 39 staff year-round.
