On Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 the “makers” of the surf industry, the surfboard shapers and builders, were honored in a Hall of Fame ceremony at the International Surf Museum in Huntington Beach. Showing up for the event was (left photo) Dana Rohrabacher, US Representative for California’s 48th District. Also in attendance was actor/ producer/ director Gregory Harrison who played Chandler, a surfboard maker in the movie North Shore. The mayor of Huntington Beach, Jim Katapodis, said he doesn’t surf but understands it is like this: “You build a great race car and you put a great driver in there, then you win. You build a great surfboard and you put a great surfer on it, and you win. So, if you don’t have great surfboards, you can’t win!”
