LOS ANGELES COUNTY ARBORETUM AND BOTANIC GARDEN: A unique tram tour on Valentine’s Day takes guests on a ride through the L.A. Arboretum to explore the science and folklore of natural elixirs of love. Without giving away the tour, here’s one tidbit: Anise seed (which influences hormone levels) was used by the ancient Greeks and Romans who believed the seeds could increase desire. In modern times we use it as flavoring in Italian cookies and sausages, but are learning about its other potential “love” properties. Reserve your space for an informative tram ride on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 11am or 2pm at Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden, 301 North Baldwin Ave., Arcadia, CA arboretum.org
