Wild Tour of California

The race has included special challenges this year with rain and a course change due to snow. Mountain resort Big Bear Lake at close to 7,000 feet elevation was slated to host Stage 6 on Friday, May 15 but was cancelled due to snow. Instead the event was held in sunny Santa Clarita near Six Flags Magic Mountain. The “Queen Stage” with its mountaintop finish on Saturday, May 16, includes 10 switchbacks on a road so steep that many of the race vehicles cannot make it to the top. The last stage on Sunday, May 17, takes place on the streets of L.A. and ends at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
