SAN DIEGO, CALIF. -- The movers & shakers gathering runs from Dec. 7-11, 2014, including a festive gala in Petco Park (shown in photo) on Wednesday evening, one of many of the Winter Meetings highlights, which include the Baseball Trade Show, Job Fair, workshops and awards ceremonies. The PBEO Job Fair (PBEO.com) gives individuals seeking employment in the baseball industry the opportunity to meet face-to-face and shake hands with club executives and interview on-site for a variety of available positions ranging from internships to full-time jobs. Baseball Trade Show (BaseballTradeShow.com) is the one-stop shop for equipment, player apparel, retail merchandise and promotional items and services. Co-sponsored by the San Diego Padres, the Gala at Petco Park invites Baseball Winter Meetings attendees, Baseball Trade Show exhibitors and job seekers a chance to network and socialize with the Padres on the playing field at Petco Park. The magical night in Holiday Wonderland includes 15,000 square feet of snow, live reindeer and a 40-foot Christmas tree, with dinner, drinks and music! Online registration is closed, so you need to call Sheryl at (727) 456-1701 with questions.

Major League Baseball Teams from throughout the country are "wheeling and dealing," signing Free Agents, trading ballplayers and driving up the value of athletes as they try to improve their franchises at these exciting Winter Meetings, where owners, executives, general managers, managers, agents, players and fans congregate. "It's like seeing the entire industry in one place," said one executive. Steve Leavitt, a former scout with the San Diego Padres, New York Mets and Atlanta Braves, looked forward to meeting his new boss with the Washington Nationals at the event, which is being held in San Diego for the first time in 30 years. Activities are going on all over town, especially at the Bayfront Hilton and Manchester Hyatt. "I'm excited. It's such a great place to meet new and old friends," the former catcher said. "Everyone loves coming here. It couldn't be a better location. For many, it's their first visit to Petco Park, which sits next to San Diego Convention Center." Many of the deals are consummated behind closed doors as teams often compete for the same top ballplayers, driving certain salaries up and up.
