Berkeley Chocolate and Chalk Art Festival

There are plenty of chocolate treats to keep the kids from trying to eat the chalk at the Chocolate and Chalk Art Festival in Berkeley on Saturday, June 4, 2011. The annual event includes a free chalk art contest with prizes, and paid chocolate tastes when you buy tickets. Held in Berkeley's North Shattuck neighborhood known as the Gourmet Ghetto, restaurants along the avenue prepare culinary chocolate tastes for the event.

Among some of the tastes in 2011, get ready to sample: Cocoa-Mint Hot Chocolat, Dark Chocolate Tiramisu, Savory Chocolate Ricotta Pizza, Chocolate Goat Cheese Truffle, Walnut Nutella Crepe, Walnut Ultimate Chocolate Mini Cupcake, Mexican Organic Chocolate Gelato, Caribbean Black Bean Chocolate Soup, Chocolate Chicken Tikka Kabob, Oreo Shake, Poulet Chicken Mole, Chocolate Ganache Cupcake, Raw Chocolate Coconut Macaroon, Chocolate Mochi Ice Cream or Black Port & Chocolate Port Truffle.

The annual chocolate festival includes musical entertainment with bands performing, food sampling, and the Chalk Art contest. The event planner, Lisa Bullwinkel, has won awards for her "Another Bullwinkel Show" that produces this event and 4th of July Berkeley Marina, Berkeley Kite Festival, Holiday Events in the Gourmet Ghetto, Dia de los Muertos / Halloween, Doof-a-Palooza and Persian New Year. chocolateandchalkart.com
