People of all ages love air shows and California is the place to be for a full calendar of shows you can see throughout the state, nearly all year long. Here are a few California Air Shows we've discovered.

Coming up this weekend is on Saturday, August 6, 2011 Big Bear Air Fair at Big Bear City Airport in San Bernardino mountains. The spectacular aircraft event at Big Bear City Airport is both affordable and fun. What a great escape and way to beat the L.A. heat! Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission: $2 per person; $1 - 11yrs. and under. Address: 501 Valley Blvd., Big Bear City, Ca. bigbearcityairport.com

  • In August you can see other airshows around the state in Santa Rosa, Camarillo and Lake Tahoe.
  • September features Watsonville Fly-In and Air Show, Sacramento Capitol Airshow and the MCAS Miramar Air Show in San Diego.
  • In October San Francisco has its fabulous Fleet Week, an entire week of events to entertain the "troops". Wings, Wheels and Rotors takes place on Sunday, Oct. 23 in Los Alamitos.
  • In November the Jacqueline Cochran Air Show is held in Riverside County.
  • There are other air shows to see throughout the Southwest. And many of the California military bases tell airshow fans to check their websites for announcements and upcoming shows.
