Fisherman Statue on Woodley Island in Eureka, California

The next time you happen to be visiting the North Coast of California where the gracious giant redwoods stand as the world’s tallest trees, be sure to stop by and say hi to the old sailor on Woodley Island in Eureka. It’s where tourists and locals like to go to grab a meal at “The Fisherman” on the waterfront. A lighthouse in the parking lot signals that you’re in the right place.

And while there, stop and take a photo of the Fisherman statue. The Fisherman honors those “whom the sea sustained...and those it claimed.” The statue was sponsored by the Commercial Fishermens Wives of Humboldt through community donations. It was dedicated in 1981.
