Kelpfest Celebrates Kelp Restoration in Laguna Beach

The annual Kelpfest on Saturday, April the 21, 2012 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) at Main Beach, Laguna Beach, CA, is a free event open to the public. It includes a fun filled day of activities and educational displays in celebration of the return of the giant kelp forests off the coast of Laguna Beach.

Kelpfest 2012 will be held at Laguna Beach's Main Beach and will feature great attractions such as:

* Live performances
* Educational exhibits about giant kelp and California marine life.
* Kayak trips to see the restored kelp forest off Laguna Beach.

For more than 20 years, Laguna Beach's kelp forests had declined by as much as 80%. But over the past nine years, thousands of people have worked to restore these critical habitats.
