Fanciful characters, musical entertainment, storytelling and culinary treats are part of this holiday safari (so to speak) where wild places glow, sparkle and shine for a limited time during the holidays.
Sweater Weather band, known for wearing "ugly" sweaters, performs acoustic renditions of holiday songs to the backdrop of multi-colored lights strewn on trees in Safari Park. Live and recorded music throughout the park is a mix of contemporary and traditional sounds of the season performed by Holiday Troubadour who does an all ages sing along; and Turtle Doves violin duo play holiday favorites in classical style as firefly stilt walkers waltz by to entertain the crowds.
A 24-foot, themed holiday tree with wildlife decorations sets the mood for other trees that also are lit and choreographed to custom holiday soundtracks in two different shows titled, "Light Up the Holidays."
As the sun goes down, stay for the lights - take an expedition through the musical and magical lighted archway Bridge of Lights, check out the Forest of Color, see the Baja Gardens in a whole new light, or journey down the Nairobi Lantern Walk.
Go on a holiday expedition where the gifts you bring home are fond memories, plus some souvenirs or Christmas gifts you can buy throughout Safari Park. This zoo celebrates the holidays each year just like its sister zoo event, Jungle Bells Auroa at San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park.
Events are not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to confirm before going.
