FIRST OFFICERS TO BE SWORN IN BY CHIEF SMALL
IN 2012 - On January 7, 2012, Chief Small
made several promotions due to a number of
recent retirements from the Huntington Beach
Police Department.
Captain Russell Reinhart was promoted from
the rank of Lieutenant. He had been the
Chief's Executive Officer for the past three
years. Captain Reinhart started as a police
cadet with the Huntington Beach Police
Department in 1986. He has a Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Political Science and a
Masters Degree in Public Policy and
Administration, both from California State
University Long Beach .
Lieutenant Mike Freeman was a police officer
in Long Beach for four years before coming
to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Lieutenant Freeman has a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Occupational Studies-Vocational
Arts from Cal State Long Beach . Most
recently was the Sergeant for the Directed
Enforcement team.
Sergeant Kreg Muller started with the
department in 1987. In 2002 he went to Vice,
then in 2006 he went to General
Investigations as a Detective. Sergeant
Muller is currently assigned to Uniform
Patrol.

Sunday Event:
CMA Celebrates the 42nd Annual Whale
Fiesta”
San Pedro, CA - Cabrillo Marine Aquarium,
will celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the
annual Whale Fiesta on Sunday, January 29,
2012, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For the past 41 years, this fun-filled
family event, co-sponsored by Cabrillo
Marine Aquarium and the Los Angeles Chapter
of the American Cetacean Society, has been
held to celebrate marine mammals, and the
beginning of the migration of the Pacific
gray whales along Southern California.
Over 20 marine life organizations will
exhibits and provide information about their
efforts to bring awareness and to protect
these animals. Throughout the day Cabrillo
Whalewatch naturalists will give talks on
various marine mammals.
This year we are building a life-sized
sculpture of a pod of killer whales – out of
sand on our beach. Grab your shovels and
come lend a hand! The highlight of the day
is the Great Duct Tape Whale Contest”,
where model whales are created by all ages.
Other special activities throughout the day
will include face painting, music, marine
mammal related arts and crafts projects for
all ages, puppet shows, a life-sized
walk-through whale and a passport contest
for fabulous prizes.
The celebration's grand finale will be
Whale Dynamics” where participants will be
transformed into a single living whale”.
The Aquarium's Exploration Center, Aquatic
Nursery and the Marine Library will be open
to visitors 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Spend the
whole day enjoying the many activities;
there is no admission charge.
Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is located at 3720
Stephen M. White Drive in San Pedro, and is
a facility of the City of Los Angeles
Department of Recreation and Parks. For more
