The mile-long Pescadero State Beach in the San Francisco State Parks region is located in San Mateo County. As one of the most accessible beaches and coastal treasures, Pescadero (someone who sells fish or fishmonger in Spanish,) features fishing, plus surfing, tide pools and picnic facilities.

To the south is Bean Hollow State Beach, and north of Pescadero State Beach is Pomponio State Beach.

Across Highway 1 from the beach is the marsh. Tours of Pecadero Marsh are offered twice each month on the first Sunday of the month at 10 a.m. and on the third Sunday at 1 p.m. Lasting approx. two hours, you can meet docents in the middle parking area for Pescadero State Beach on Highway 1.

Pescadero State Beach has three parking areas. From the north, the parking area for marsh walks is immediately south of the bridge, on the right. From the south, the lot is 1/4 mile past the flashing light at Pescadero Road and before reaching the bridge, on your left.

For a real "hoot", stay at Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel, offering shared accommodations at affordable prices. Call: (650) 879-0633. Another option is Costanoa, a rustic hotel that's very popular for its private rooms.
