Fortuna is located on the northern California Redwood Coast. While the logging industry has long been a major employer in the region, the industry has slowed and provides less jobs today.

Fortuna is surrounded by towering redwoods and sits on the banks for the rugged Eel River. There's a downtown with a movie theater, restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores.

The nearest major city is north of Fortuna in Eureka, where you will find an airport with direct flights from LAX and San Francisco.

Fortuna experiences over 40 inches of rain annually but when summer comes, the streets are filled with shiny cars in the annual Fortuna Redwood AutoXpo held the fourth weekend in July.  This is also around the time the city hosts a huge rodeo.
