Richmond, California in the San Francisco Bay Area has a rich and storied past with the maritime industry during World War II assisting in the war effort with its four ship-yards that operated around the clock.

The interesting thing about this massive effort was what became of the technologies that were invented during the mid 20th century. Richmond shipyards pioneered mass manufacturing techniques that drastically cut production time, breaking records.

Richmond's maritime industry continue to be a force in the city with a profitable port that is one of the engine drivers for the local economy.

For visitors, Richmond is interesting because of the water location, the unique, historic buildings, and charming businesses that have transformed old buildings and their ambience into welcoming attractions.

For meeting planners and hosting special events, Richmond Auditorium and Convention Center can host around 3,000 people With 20,000 feet of exhibit space and the capacity for over 3,000 people in the historic masterpiece, Richmond Memorial Auditorium.

Richmond has special events throughout the year but several stand out as the biggest, drawing thousands to the city for the annual celebrations:

Cinco de Mayo Festival in May celebrates Mexican Culture with three music stages, dancing horses, jumpers, giveaways, food and festivities.

Juneteenth Parade & Festival in June is a family festival held in Nicholl Park with entertainment, food, contests, children's activities, and fun.

Richmond Homefront Festival in October pays homage to cultural heritage. with non-stop entertainment, demonstrations, food, and fun for the whole family. It is sponsored by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.
